II. Activities before departure

Where have you gained information about the Erasmus programme? (e. g. on internet, from classmates) od spolužáků
What was your motivation to study abroad (tick in the list, more items can be ticked) improving language skills
stay abroad as a life experience
Where is it possible to obtain information about courses taught at the host institution? http://www.courses.hull.ac.uk/ a http://www2.hull.ac.uk/international/courses.aspx
What documents are required by the host institution within the admission/application procedure? Application Form (Transcript of results in English, English language competency statement, Student agreement form, Accomodation application, One academic reference) a v případě ubytování ve školních domcích pak ještě poslat Acceptance of Accomodation
How is the admission/application procedure done? (select) both on-line and per post
How long before departure should be the admission/application procedure completed? domovská škola chtěla vyplněné formuláře do 23.9.2009, deadline pro přihášky v Hullu byl na začátku října, tzn. cca 5 měsíců dopředu
In what language were your courses (mainly) taught? (select from the menu) angličtina
How was your language preparation before the study abroad? (language, length of preparation, type of course, special preparation course organized by the home or host institution)? nijak jsem se zvlášť nepřipravoval, měl jsem nějaké hodiny angličtiny v rámci studia na škole
How would you evaluate your language skills as for the language in which you studied abroad? (1=excellent, 5=very bad/insufficient)
a) before studying abroad 3
b) after studying abroad 2
Have you participated in an EILC (Erasmus Intensive Language Courses)? no

III. Academic Issues

Before departure, had your Learning Agreement (Studienvertrag, Contract d´études) been signed by both your home and host institutions? (select) yes, it had been signed by both before my departure
Did you change the Learning Agreement during your study abroad period? (select) yes
Registration for courses to be studied at the host institution: when does it take place and how is it done? (Are there any restrictions as for the selection of courses? May the registration be modified later on?)
Would you recommend some interesting course/lecturer? Pro zlepšení angličtiny můžu doporučit English for Business nebo British Society and Culture. Z hlediska Business School je zajímavý Marketing nebo Sustainable Business.
Did you take exams at the host institution? (select) yes
Did you do an internship/job placement as a part of your study period abroad? (select) no
Please describe the methods of learning/teaching (theory, practice, projects) and the methods of evaluation/assessment of students's performance at the host institution and compare them with the situation at your home institution. Pokud máte úplně výjimečnou a jedinečnou práci, můžete očekávat 80-85%.
How do you see the quality of teaching at the host institution compared to your home institution? (select) comparable
How did you obtain study materials at the host institution? (were these distributed for free during lectures or was it necessary to buy them?) K dispozici často byly elektronické materiály (přednášky apod.) nebo i papírové podklady. Učebnice si ale studenti musí zajistit sami a bohužel v knihovně jich moc není (např. Marketing) a nová učebnice je velice drahá (cca 60 liber). Ale jde to i bez ní.
How is the availability and facilities of the library?
How is the availability of computer facilities (availability of internet connection, is it necessary to have your own notebook?, possibilites of printing and copying)?
Does the host university use the ECTS system? (select) no
Does the host institution (or a local student organization) organize some special events for exchange students? (select) yes
If YES, please select and specify Pick-up service at the moment of arrival:
Welcome day/evening:
Orientation week: víkend
Trips and/or cultural events:
Others: party
Were you integrated into study groups with local students while studying abroad? ano, nedělá se zde žádný rozdíl mezi britskými a zahraničními studenty
How would you evaluate the level of your integration into the group of local students? (1=high level of integration, 5=very poor or none) 3

IV. Practical aspects of the study abroad period

Which type of accommodation did you use while studying abroad? (select)? student dormitory/residence
Price of your accommodation (in EUR monthly) 324
Please explain why did you choose this type of accommodation (describe the equipment of the flat/dormitory; internet connection; recommend what to bring with you; possibility of checking in in the evening or during a weekend) Škola nabízí bydlení ve studentských domcích. Internet LAN 100MB. Možnost ubytování je nonstop - v noci přes recepci a security.
How long before the start of the study abroad period should the search for accommodation be started? What searching methods would you recommend?
Where can students have/buy their meals?
What are the prices of basic foodstuffs? (Please compare them with the Czech Republic.) Ceny jsou celkem podobné, maso, mléčné produkty, ovoce dražší, alkohol velice drahý.
How to get to the place of study, approximate ticket prices, tips for purchasing tickets Nejjednodušší je letecky PRA-Leeds/Brad. (Jet2 za cca 1000 Kč s jedním zavazadlem) a pak vlakem do Hullu. Další výhodné nízkonákladovky a letiště jsou: Manchester, Liverpool, East Midlands / Ryanair, BMI Baby, jet2.
What are the possibilities of local transport (public transport system, bicycle, walking; approximate costs)? Je zde MHD - dvě společnosti. Jízdenka do centra města (4km) stojí cca 1,3 liber.
What formalities should be arranged after arrival (e.g. residence permit)? Pouze vyplnit formuláře do školy (předměty apod.). Je doporučeno se zaregistrovat u lékaře. V rámci EU není povolení k pobytu potřeba.
What type of health insurance did you use? (approximate cost, advantages, disadvantages, does the host institution require any special type of insurance?)
Did you have experience with medical treatment abroad? (select) ne
Did you work during your study abroad period? no
What are the working conditions for Czech/international students? Nevím, v Hullu je velká nezaměstnanost.
Tips for free time activities (sport, culture, trips; are they expensive?) Studentská organizace ISA pořádá výlety. V UK je hodně leteckých nízkonákladovek, je možné velice levně letět např. do Irska, Španělska apod. V kampusu jsou sportovní kluby i jiné zájmové.

V. Finance

Had you received the first payment of your Erasmus grant before your study period abroad started? yes
If NOT, then when did you receive it?
How did you receive your Erasmus scholarship? Převodem na bankovní účet
You experience with bank services / accounts (do you recommend to open a bank account abroad, using Czech bank cards abroad)? Není třeba účet v UK, lze platit téměř všude kreditní kartou (případně vybírat hotovost)
Were you charged any fees by the host institution (for the issuance of your student card, insurance, copying, study materials, etc.)? Pouze za kopírování
